Rules of War, directed by Guido Hendrikx, celebrates its world premiere at CPH:DOX in the F:act Award competition. The film is produced by Lemming Film and Aventura. Hendrikx's curious observational documentary studies an outsider named Albert as he crosses the inlands of South Sudan in a speedboat. Employed by a European humanitarian organization, Albert comes with a mission: to teach this country's fighting soldiers the rules of war. Hendrikx’s previous documentary A Man and a Camera* premiered at last year’s festival.

Dutch minority feature-length documentary Outside, directed by Olha Zhurba, world premieres in the Dox:Award competition. Dutch co-producer is Tangerine Tree and international sales are handled by Deckert Distribution.

Dutch director Oeke Hoogendijk participates with two documentaries at this year’s CPH:DOX. Light – Stockhausen’s Legacy** (prod. Witfilm) is selected for CPH:DOX’s Sound & Vision programme. In the film, Stockhausen’s musical universe is recreated through the making of the megalomaniac opera 'Licht,' set against the backdrop of his dramatic life story. Hoogendijk’s The Treasures of Crimea** (prod. Zeppers Film) screens in the Highlights section.

Three more Dutch docs will screen in CPH:DOX’s Highlights section: A Marble Travelogue by Sean Wang (prod. Muyi Film), minority co-production Dreaming Walls* by Amélie van Elmbt and Maya Duverdier (NL co-prod. Basalt Film) and Shabu* by Shamira Raphaëla (prod. Tangerine Tree). The latter just won received a special mention at Berlinale 2022.

Red Lines White Lines Fine Lines, directed by Dutch filmmaker India Zahra Lyell, screens in DANISH:DOX. The short is the filmmakers graduation film from the Danish European Film College. A young woman paints an intimate picture of her destructive thoughts by reciting poetry from her darkest years. She wonders - how to be the artist who does not suffer?

For Artists & Auteurs two minority Dutch co-productions have been selected: I Am So Sorry* by Liang Zhao (NL co-prod. Muyi Film, sales: Rediance Films) and the Russian – Netherlands co-production Detours (NL co-prod. Dutch Mountain Film) by Ekaterina Selenkina. Planktonium, short experimental doc directed by Jan van IJken will screen in the CPH:Science section of the festival.
