Still: I am the River, the River is Me - Petr Lom
I am the River, The River is Me** (prod. Zindoc) is having its world premiere in the Activist Competition. A documentary road movie by Petr Lom, down the Whanganui River in Aotearoa/New Zealand; the first river in the world to be recognised as a legal person.
Competing in the Grand Jury Documentary Competition is Joost van der Valk's Eddy's War (prod. Zeppers, sales: Journeyman Pictures). The film about highly lauded war photographer Eddy van Wessel journeying to the Ukrainian frontline, will be having its world premiere.
Two Dutch documentaries will be world premiering in the Dutch Movies Matter Competition: Nice Ladies* directed by Mariia Ponomarova and produced by Labyrinth Film, about a team of ageing Ukrainian cheerleaders hold onto their friendship as each navigates the trauma of war in her own way. Sales by Cat&Docs. Furthermore Russia vs Lawyers (prod. NOVDOC, sales: New Docs) by Masha Novikova is also having its world premiere in this section.
Several other Dutch documentaries are selected for the Dutch Movies Matter Competition, a.o. The Border Crossed Us* by Loretta van der Horst, which world premiered at IDFA 2023. And lastly, The World according to Carlijn by Ariane Greep (prod. Filmagine). World premiered at IFFR.
