First Zone set to premiere at Edinburgh International Film Festival
First Zone, director Thom Lunshof’s debut feature, will celebrate its world premiere as part of the In Competition programme strand of the 2026 Edinburgh International Film Festival. The film will compete for the prestigious Sean Connery Prize for Feature Filmmaking Excellence.

In First Zone*, produced by Makaki Productions, a woman living in a wind turbine is torn away by a violent storm. She begins to question whether the place she once called home still retains any meaning for her.
Running from 13 to 19 August, the Edinburgh International Film Festival is the world's oldest continually running film festival. Following its relaunch in 2024, the festival continues to honour more than seventy years of cinema history while presenting a renewed programme that is rooted in Scotland and embraces international filmmaking from around the world.
