Mees Peijnenburg’s second feature film A Family, starring Carice van Houten and Pieter Embrechts, will celebrate its world premiere at the Berlinale, in Generation 14plus.

A Family** tells the story of teenagers Eli and Nina who are trying, each in their own way, to keep their heads above water while their parents’ marriage dissolves into a messy divorce.
With A Family selected for Generation 14plus, Mees Peijnenburg has become a real Berlinale favourite! Peijnenburg’s first feature, Paradise Drifters**, screened at the Berlinale in Generation 14plus in 2020. His short films Even Cowboys Get to Cry and Un creux dans mon coeur* both premiered in Generation 14plus, respectively in 2014 and in 2015.
The film is produced by Juliet at Pupkin (NL) and The Reunion (BE) and is supported by the Netherlands Film Fund and Netherlands Production Incentive. Paradise City Sales, formerly known as Memento International, has acquired international sales rights.
In addition, Generation will present two Dutch minority co-productions as well. Alongside A Family, Frederike Migom’s Everyone’s Sorry Nowadays** is selected for Generation Kplus. The film is minority co-produced by Juliet at Pupkin. Quatro Meninas**, directed by Karen Suzane and minority co-produced by PRPL will premiere in Generation 14plus.

The 76 edition of the Berlinale will take place 12-22 February.
