THE MACHINE tells about the rise (and further rise…) of online travel agency Booking.com. At a pivotal moment the Dutch executives are challenged with problems piling up and skeletons coming out of the closet, and have to deal with technical issues, suffocating control by its US parent company and mental problems for workers. The downfall of the CEO seems inevitable, but the price of success is being paid even more by the customer care employees in the lowest ranks of the company.
