Still: Barlebas - Malu Janssen

Produced by DOXY FIXY, Barlebas is set in 1595 in the south of the Netherlands and explores the brutal persecution of women accused of witchcraft. The film captivated the jury with its storytelling, evocative imagery, and unforgettable music:

“An all too familiar story, fear of the power that women hold. A story of resilience told through beautiful images and a haunting soundtrack. The lead carries the audience along with her unforgettable original voice and songs. Definitely an easy and unanimous decision for the jury.”

Barlebas is supported by The Netherlands Film Fund.
