Beyond Silence wins Best Narrative Short at Tribeca

The short film takes home the Oscar Qualifying Best Narrative Short Film Award.

Still: Beyond Silence (Marnie Blok)

The 24th annual Tribeca Festival announced its competition winners and Marnie Blok's debut Beyond Silence (Prod. PRPL) triumphed in the short film section, taking home the Best Narrative Short Award, also an Oscar Qualifying Award. The short tells the story of two women, two generations, same trauma. One has been silent for over thirty years, the other for a mere year and a half. Where one decides to remain silent after a confrontation, the other finds the courage to break the silence.

From the jury statement: “Covering an enormous subject with beautiful minimalism, brilliant performances combine with a skillful script to give new meaning to ‘finding your voice.’ Raw and devastating. Impressive and emotional.”
