The work, produced by the doubleA foundation, celebrated its international premiere in Cannes' prestigious Immersive Competition.

From Dust is a virtual reality opera composed, directed, written and produced by Michel van der Aa, and performed by the mesmerising vocal ensemble Sjaella. The work transcends the boundaries of traditional opera and takes the viewer to the forefront of immersive storytelling and personalised art. It uses AI to create a personal experience in which the viewer is the main character.

The work was shown in the Netherlands in December as part of Immersive Tech Week in Rotterdam. It was commissioned by De Doelen Rotterdam and supported by the Netherlands Film Fund.
