Dutch short film I'm Not a Robot wins Oscar®

Last Sunday the 97th Academy Awards were presented in Los Angeles and I’m Not a Robot directed by Victoria Warmerdam and produced by Trent of OAK Motion Pictures won the Oscar® in the Live Action Short Film category.

I’m Not a Robot tells the story of music producer Lara who, after several unsuccessful attempts to complete a CAPTCHA, sets out to answer the disturbing question of whether she's a robot. With over 200 festival selections and 80 awards to date, the short film has qualified no less than four times for submitting to the Oscars® through selections and wins at Sitges Film Festival,  Bengaluru International Short Film Festival, San Jose International Short Film Festival and Manhattan Short.

Recently Victoria Warmerdam’s short film has been acquired by The New Yorker for worldwide distribution. Furthermore, Victoria and Trent are working on a feature length adaptation of I’m Not a Robot alongside US production company Rearview Pictures

This is the very first time that a Dutch short film wins an Oscar® in the Live Action Short Film category. The last Dutch short animation to win an Oscar® in the Animated Short Film category was Michaël Dudok de Wit’s Father and Daughter in 2001.
