Refugee KINAN (8) confronts his trauma during his first swimming lessons.
KINAN (11) flees from Syria together with his parents HASAN (38) and MAYSA (34). At sea the boat capsizes and pure chaos in the water prevails. At present, they live in the Netherlands and Hasan is working hard to build a new life. Kinan refuses to accept the Netherlands as his new home. In his mourning, he clings to memories from Syria and sees his father's attempts at integration as a betrayal of their homeland. When Kinan is confronted with his trauma during his first swimming lesson, he realizes that he must overcome his fear to accept the past.
