8' Dir. Sara Fattahi
A film that visualizes the Iranian government's efforts to erase, both physically and digitally, women's presence from society in post-revolution Iran. With striking simplicity, this film shows how far the effects of state repression can reach.
More than a year after fleeing Iran, young filmmaker Sara Fattahi is confronted with a void. Where does that feeling come from. She reaches for her phone to find answers. But when Sara goes in search of the friends, the source of her unease comes into view, in the form of deleted posts and entire profiles taken offline. Like her friends, Sara herself has become invisible. With striking simplicity, this film shows how far the effects of state repression reach.
