Running Oct. 11 – Nov. 3 on more than 30 VOD platforms alongside an Oct. 18 – 21 stint on Minecraft, this digital festival’s second edition will reach out to the online youth on their own terms, showcasing features and shorts from all over Europe – with both Kiddo and R U There in their line-up.
Still: R U There
An innovative initiative from Unifrance with support from Creative Europe MEDIA program, MyMetaStories is a unique European short and feature film festival offering a two-fold digital experience.
Via the Minecraft platform, participants can watch films in screening rooms tailored to each title, play mini-games and interact with like-minded users from across the globe, all while connecting the worlds of gaming and European filmmaking. Spotlighting 13 animated and live-action shorts available free-of-charge and in three languages, this Minecraft-held film festival will mark the occasion by screening David Verbeek’s Cannes-selected R U There (prod. Topkapi Films, sales: Films Boutique) as the inaugural feature presented in this world. In the film young professional gamer Jitze travels the world with his team to compete in computer games. He is doing ok, until he witnesses a deadly accident. His presumed control of his life appears only effective in the virtual reality of gaming, but now he is loosing it in reality. He has to get grip of his life again.
Futhermore, Zara Dwinger's Kiddo (prod. Studio Ruba, sales: SKOOP Media) will be showcased at the digital experience. In the roadmovie Lu (11) is living in a foster home when her long-lost eccentric mother Karina shows up unexpectedly and takes her on a wild road trip in a beat-up sports car.
