Ned Tapa, a Māori river guardian, invites a First Nations Australian Elder and his daughter on a five-day canoe trip down his sacred river. Joining them are Ned’s friends and family, and an international film crew. The river, like a mirror filled with humor and light, organically unites all travelers, and provides a space to heal from the unavoidable darkness of the past. The Whanganui River's legal personhood sparked a global Rights for Nature movement.
