In CHILD OF THEIR TIME we meet Tim and his adoptive father Lex. Both look back on Tim's adoption and its consequences. How can such good intentions turn out so badly?

In this film I juxtapose the story of my adopted brother Tim with the story of Lex - my father - who adopted Tim from Indonesia in the 70s. The adoption has become a source of conflict between the two, but they hardly ever talk about it - until Tim receives the unexpected message that his birthmother has been found. I invite both for a family meeting, hoping that they’ll somehow be able to acknowledge each other's pain. Will they succeed or will they part ways once and for all?
