Starting June 2nd the Japan EU Film Days will bring European films to Japanese audiences in Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Fukuoka. The Netherlands will be represented in the festival line-up by A Place Like Home (Kees Vliegt Uit), a documentary picturing Kees, a man with autism, finding his way, struggling with the inevitability of a life without his parents.

In A Place Like Home, autistic Kees Momma (now 57 years old) has lived his entire life in the perfect environment of his childhood home. However, his parents, who he depends on so much, are getting older and won't be around forever. Eventually, Kees will have to learn to stand on his own two feet. What will happen to him when his parents can no longer take care of him?
The films predecessor Only the Best for our Son (Het Beste voor Kees) was part of the EU Festival in 2020 and was very well received at that time. The film will have an extra screening in this anniversary edition as well.
Both Monique Nolte, director of the film and Kees Momma himself are invited by the Netherlands Embassy to be present during the first screening of the film in Tokyo on June 4th. and for other events talking about the film and autism.
