Journey Through Our World by Peter Lataster, Petra Lataster-Czisch and L&F Productions win the awards for Best Dutch Film and Best Editing in the International Competition. When the pandemic came and the world halted to a standstill, the filmmakers decided to point their camera at a shrunken world: their garden, neighbours, animals and plants and themselves. They marvelled at the many forms of life in their mini jungle. The beauty and vulnerability of this little patch of nature helped them accept the turmoil around them: the threat of the virus, the ever-bigger effects of climate change, illness and death of a dear friend.

Inside my Heart by Saskia Boddeke and Witfilm receives a special mention in the category Best Dutch Film. Saskia Boddeke was so impressed by KamaK, a theater group for professional actors with intellectual disabilities, that she decided to make a film with them. Shifting back and forth between events onstage and behind the scenes, the film blends the magic of an opera and the depth of a documentary. Fact and fiction merge, sometimes also for the actors themselves, who deeply feel the emotions they portray.

His Name is My Name by Eline Jongsma and Kel O'Neill is rewarded the Jury Award for Creative Technology in the category DocLab Competition for Digital Storytelling. In this animated, Instagram-based series, Jongsma and her filmmaking partner Kel O’Neill search through archives and family memories to create a fractured portrait of Crazy Gerrit and his legacy. While each of its 10 episodes can stand alone, the whole forms an ingenious, kaleidoscopic look at history, guided by a propelling soundtrack that compels you to keep watching.
