World Premieres at Imagine 2022

Sputum* by Dan Geesin and Rots Filmwerk is selected for the Lab Rats section. Geesin's debut feature film first previewed as part of an exhibition at Encounters Film Festival, where props of the film were presented. In the dark corners of the FAMLY factory, Bakelite rebellion leader Jimin Blyth is milked of his saliva antidote by the last Antique defector Kalta Crux. But whilst Jimin fights against the deadly BLOOM cloud and for freedom, Kalta is torn between her FAMLY obligations and her own desires. In spite of absurd etiquettes, Jimin and Kalta’s relationship flourishes, lighting their way to greener pastures that might also be a road to nowhere.

Debut feature Exhibit#8 by Ruben Broekhuis and Make Way Film is selected for Imagine General. All her life, Bosnian refugee Aisha has been looking for her brother Adin, who disappeared from a Dutch refugee centre when he was a teen. Now, Aisha teams up with her friend and documentary film maker Elias and decides to film her search. The two travel to the town from which Adin went missing, but they soon start to suspect someone is playing a dark game with them. We gradually realize Aisha and Elias have fallen victim to a clandestine snuff community, preying on the nearby refugee shelter.

Short film A Final Transmission by Kelly Klingenberg is selected for Imagine General, included in the Nieuw Nederlands Peil 2 programme. Their spaceship is heavily under attack as 2 astronauts are on the run for something big. Upon seeing that their plan for escape is no use they are confronted with what was and what will be. Their home seems doomed. Or is it really?

Short 3D animation It Escapes, Irretrievable Time by Chellysia Rae Christen is selected for Imagine General, included in the Nieuw Nederlands Peil 3 programme. A human is formed from different body parts and grows from childhood to adolescence, then adulthood, before fading into death. - an ode to the beauty that lies in every single fleeting chapter of existence. This film pins us against our own mortality.
