A film about Leonie Brandt, an actress who used her talent to become a brilliant double agent, living a life shrouded in intrigue and mystery.
Leonie Brandt (1901-1978) dreamed of becoming an actress, and after realising her dream she took on the role of a lifetime, as a spy working for the Dutch Intelligence Services in Nazi Germany. After the war a number of prominent Dutchmen also feared Leonie for what she knew about their activities during the occupation. The film follows the chronology of her astonishing life via scenes from old movies. Shrouded in a haze of mystery, what is real and what is ‘fictional’ is not always clear.
