When Lidija Zelović fled the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina at the age of 22, she didn’t realize that she would henceforth be defined as a “refugee.” Nor that her life would then be spent between the past and the present, between being Lidija and being a foreigner. Zelović combines journal extracts, news footage and personal archive material, offering a deeply personal glimpse into her life. Her observations from the perspective of an “eternal outsider” act as a mirror to Dutch society.
