Set in Cape Verde, known as the place where hurricanes are born, THE CORIOLIS EFFECT is a cinematic meditation on all that lives, in a world spinning out of control.
A kaleidoscope of parable-like stories, where all living things are equally important, trying to survive in our threatened world. The earth’s rotation deflects trade winds blowing past Cape Verde. This ‘Coriolis Effect’ creates the world’s biggest hurricanes, whose vastness is increasing with rising sea temperatures. Paradoxically, sea currents push mountains of floating trash back to the island’s shores. Cape Verde is the literal and metaphorical epicentre of our world spinning out of control.
