A group of young ballet dancers, exiled from Ukraine, welcome a soldier into their midst who lost his legs on the battlefield in their home country: taking the stage where the front row and the front line converge.
In the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a group of young dancers find themselves exiled. They come together in the Netherlands, forming the United Ukrainian Ballet Company. As the company dances to keep their culture alive, they welcome a wounded soldier into their midst who lost both his legs in the war. Holding up a mirror to their lives, the soldier becomes a symbol for every brother, father, and friend they’ve left behind, igniting the dancers to channel their guilt and transform their grief.
