I Wan'na Be Like You

Margit Lukács · Persijn Broersen

The Jungle Book reimagined as a virtual mirage.

In I Wan'na Be Like You, Lukács and Broersen examine 'the jungle' as a colonial Terra Nullius, recreated in European botanical gardens. Meanwhile Black Harmony transforms the classic Jungle Book song into ‘Na Mi’ (Sranang for “I Am”), expressing Afro-Surinamese diaspora pride.
