Now that the eel is in danger of extinction, much effort is being made to unravel the mystery of its reproductive cycle. Is our interference helpful or harmful?
For centuries, we haven’t been able to fathom the mystery of the eel's reproductive cycle; where and how does it reproduce? The eel is in danger of extinction, and so much effort is being made to unravel the mystery, such as a scientific expedition to the Sargasso Sea, the eel's suspected birthplace, and experiments to breed eels in a laboratory which we still cannot do. Once the mystery is solved, can we eat eels again with peace of mind? Or is our domination of nature further threatening this primal fish?
